Dr. Michael A. Baskind, CRNA, PhD

Board Certified Nurse Anesthetist

An experienced and dedicated nurse anesthetist, Dr. Baskind has been a part of Community Eye Center (CEC) and St. Lucy’s Eye Surgery Center since 1989, the year that the surgery center first opened.

Dedicating himself to the care of his patients, Dr. Baskind furthers his knowledge of his field and advancing technologies through continuing education, both on a national level and provided by CEC and St. Lucy’s Eye Surgery Center.

He has brought a remarkable safety record to St. Lucy’s Eye Surgery Center, by carefully evaluating each individual patient’s medical history and providing an anesthesia experience that is tailored specifically to that patient’s needs. His favorite saying is: “The Patient is not an interruption of my work, they are the reason for it.”

Committed to the community, Dr. Baskind and his wife of 30 years have raised three sons in Englewood. He coached soccer for many years for Englewood Youth Soccer and has been involved in philanthropic efforts for both his communities of Englewood and Port Charlotte. He has been dedicated to providing free anesthesia care for patients who are in need, but unable to pay for their surgical care.

When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Baskind spends his free time enjoying his favorite hobbies and Florida’s weather while sailing, surfing and golfing.
